Jamaica Plain doesn’t have a huge selection of wine shops. Blanchard’s is the default, large-selection shop smack-dab in the middle of JP, situated just before ‘The Monument.’ The building looks like a converted grocery store, complete with automatic doors and ample parking in the rear. The store is a scrappy looking, but actually well organized wine and spirits shop. The wines are organized in the traditional fashion, by regions and the store rocks around 1,500 labels.

Focusing mostly on their young professional and graduate student clientele, the store is chalked full of inexpensive but great buys. They always have a few wines on sale for unbeatable prices. In a city of $15 bottles Blanchard’s somehow manages to bring in numerous wines of equal quality for a few bucks cheaper. It would be nice to see more options of cold white wine available, but it’s by no means a deal breaker. Blanchard’s also has a selection of high-end favorites, incase you’re in a jam and need a bottle of Dom or Opus. This is definitely you’re one-stop wine shopping in Jamaica Plain.
