It makes sense that the people with the best cheese selection in the city have decent wine as well. Don’t count on a diverse selection, but the bottles they do have mean business. Mostly a melange of French and Italian wines, many are organic or biodynamic and all come from small, somewhat obscure producers. Set a block back from the hustle and bustle of Tremont Street in the South End, this shop is reminiscent of a tiny, neighborhood store in Paris. Although any wino would find it difficult to live off this store alone, you can guarantee a perfect wine, cheese and cured meat pairing every time. Finally, although the average price is around $20 a bottle, there are many great choices closer to $10.
P.S. Grab one of their hot or cold sandwiches for only a few bucks. They’re modeled after the quick street-side lunches the Europeans are known for.
