414-08winerack161The Infinity wine rack from Kartell is aptly named. With the 16 separate “cells” included in each Kartell set, you can create an endless interplay of shapes to fit any space—OK, maybe not an infinite amount of shapes, but with more than one set, your constructive possibilities increase exponentially (anyone good at math?) The Infinity is like a grown-up Lego set—but it’s not just a bunch of plastic bricks. The pieces are made from Poly(methyl methacrylate), which lazy scientists call PMMA, a crack-resistant, scratch-resistant plastic known as plexiglas. Ron Arad, the Infinity’s designer, made sure the rack is sturdy (he’s a bona fide architect, so you don’t need to worry about your 1978 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti). The standard 16-cell shape is a triangle, which holds 10 bottles. But this is no ordinary triangle. Each individual cell, measuring 1.25″ x 3.5″ x 5.75″ is curvy, which makes the geometric rack look fluid. Buy multiple sets and mix and match to make a super-groovy customized masterpiece all your own. Available in opaline, blue, yellow-green, and orange.

Has a modern look, but I wonder how you would keep multiple of them together, not too hot on the bottom layer being open to the floor either.
