For the past week the country has been inundated with stories about the financial crisis. While we do not intend to dilute the grave importance of the situation we have come to one conclusion; it’s time for a drink.
The 2005 Masciarelli Montepulciano D’abruzzo is deep in color and flavor. It’s a dry wine but has nice fruit and soft tannins. We’re not going to lie, there isn’t much “complexity” and it doesn’t have a “lasting finish” or other things wine connoisseurs look for. However, it does have something that appeals to everyone, expert or novice alike; it’s only eight bucks!
It’s been a rough week, so grab a bottle of this surprisingly good but incredibly inexpensive Italian vino and call up your local pizza joint. This wine is to pizza as economists are to numbers, politicians to baby kissing and CEOs of large financial institutions to… er… we’ll stop here.
Drink with pizza, pasta or burgers while taking a load off with good friends.
