South East Australia – $12

Marquee GSM
You could be the party-goer who brings a bottle sporting a traditional label (read: boring) with a castle, a tree or some dude on a horse. Or, you could roll with some bling!

The 2006 Marquee GSM from South East Australia is a big and juicy barbeque wine covered in glitter and fabulousness. While some wines go “over the top” with too much fruit, this puppy is the “bad boy” you can still take home to meet your mom.

GSM stands for Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre; grapes frequently blended together in France’s Rhone Valley. The Aussie’s use the same grapes but make a considerably different wine with more fruit and higher alcohol due to the hotter and dryer weather. The Marquee, in particular, rocks deep and almost intense flavors of cherry and red berry with a waft of smoke on every sip. This is a wine made for the “barbie!”

Drink liberally with grilled lamb, burgers or anything covered in tomato sauce.
