delle Venezie, Italy – $12

Kris Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio gets a bad rep. It’s commonly thought of as cheap sorority* girl juice that is slugged out of large bottles with nondescript labels. However, great Pinot Grigio is usually just an aisle and some pocket change away.

Originally from France’s Burgundy region Pinot Grigio (or Pinot Gris as its know in France and the US) has found another home in the northeastern part of Italy. The Italians tend to make this wine with more of a clean acidic zing that makes a perfect summer refreshment.

The 2007 Kris Pinot Grigio from delle Venezie, Italy not only tastes delicious, but the winery’s motto is “Wine is Art,” so they adorn their bottles with modern art pieces. Couple this with a slew of bright citrus flavors and a touch of honey and you’ve got yourself a pretty kickin’ bottle of vino for only a few bucks.

Drink with fish, a summer salad or your favorite sorority girl.

* Attention sorority girls: We are far from hatin’ on you. In fact, we love you! Keep doin’ what you’re doin.’ We’re just saying, you could spend an extra buck and trade up from time to time! Life is too short to drink bad wine.
