2007 Monte Oton Garnacha

monte_otonCampo de Borja, Spain – $8

Warning: Do not let the price fool you! This is not some cheap plonk that you’ll be embarrassed to serve to friends and family. This is not a simple, “well, I guess it tastes like wine” wine. This is the real deal, high altitude 100% Garnacha from Spain.

We have no idea how importer and Spanish wine legend Jorge Ordonez gets the wine this cheap, and honestly, as long we can keep buying bottles for $8, we don’t care. What really matters is how the fabulously juicy blackberry, raspberry, and plum fruit flavors dance across your tongue.

Dry with light tannins this wine is very agreeable and can pair with many different foods. Not only will this make your party guests happy, but starting around $75/ case, your bank account will thank you as well.

Drink liberally with grilled meats, hard cheeses or those tiny hot dogs you’ll probably be eating with tooth picks at Grandma’s house.
