The holidays are over and winter is settling in. That means it’s time for cozy evenings filled with home-cooked meals, movie watching and get-togethers with friends. This time of year isn’t about expensive wines with fancy labels. That’s what New Years Eve is for. Winter is all about good quality, tasty, yet still affordable vino.
From one of Italy’s top wine producers comes theĀ 2008 Bibi Graetz Casamatta Rosso. Winemaker and vineyard owner Bibi Graetz was an artist and painter before deciding to make wine. He’s known for treating his wines like children, carefully attending to every detail of their lives.
For the money, this “entry level” bottle is one of the best Tuscan wines on the market. Made from 100% Sangiovese (the same grape used to make Chianti) this wine is rich and smooth with flavors of ripe red fruit.
It’s incredibly easy to drink and will leave you wanting to come back for glass after glass. Make this your house red in 2010 and you won’t be sorry.
Drink liberally with pizza delivery, pasta or shovel a path to the grill for some burgers.
