Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard the buzz about Malbec. And now more than two years into the craze, this wine has managed to stand its ground as the latest “it” varietal despite strong competition and prove it’s no flash in the pan.
Wineries like Doña Paula transformed this rustic French transplant into the juicy, sexy phenomenon that has stolen the hearts of wine drinkers everywhere. Located in the Mendoza region, the sustainably farmed Doña Paula is one of greenest and most influential wineries in all of Argentina.
Doña Paula’s 2008 Malbec is a blend of fruit from their four vineyard sites and is the quintessential expression of Argentinian perspective: purple-hued, awash in fruity aromas and plummy goodness, with enough anise and savory herb on the back end to keep even the hardcore wine geeks entertained. At $15, this is one of the best deals in Argentine wine, hands down.
Drink liberally with some of the smokin’ pulled pork sliders offered up by Tremont 647 at Wine Riot!
Over the next 5 weeks we’ll be featuring wines from the upcoming Wine Riot. This is just one of the 250 bitchin’ wines that will be poured come showtime. What time is it? SHOWTIME!

Had this wine with Xmas dinner this year — not only did it help me cope ever-so-graciously with my terrifying family members BUT it floored to entire crowd of snooty-wino’s, neophytes, and 15-year-old cousins-secretly-pounding-in-the-corner. I think next time I go to buy this, I might as well get a case.
