Our family has been Sancerre wine makers for 10 generations. Our estate is located in the famous village of Chavignol renowned for its wines (from sloping and well-exposed hillsides) and its goat cheese, the "Crottin de Chavignol". In 1950, the Henri Bourgeois estate consisted of 2 hectares. Today, his sons have expanded the Domaine to 65 hectares of vines, judiciously situated among the best slopes of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Our passion for wine inspires us to give the best to the vine and the vinification. Our family tradition, passed through generations, is based on respect of the terroir and winemaking. At Domaine Henri Bourgeois we are committed to producing the finest Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé wines. This means using the best of tradition with the best of modernity. For example, separate vinification of individual parcels, gravity feed-based system in our cellars and close monitoring of the wines from the lees to the bottling are characteristic of the "Bourgeois quality" and our preoccupation with perfection.
Domaine La Voltonnerie
Located in the small village of Crezancy-en-Sancerre, Domaine la Voltonnerie was established in 1970 by Jack Pinson. Known for their expressive white wines, almost 13 hectares of the 16 hectare property is dedicated to growing Sauvignon Blanc. This intense, complex white offers vibrant aromas of orange, elderflower and honey that lead to lemon and grapefruit notes on the palate. The crisp, clean finish displays soft, lingering notes of mineral and fresh herbs.
