Mionetto USA, Inc. ...
Okay, so we all know bubbly is the go-to vino for any and all celebrations (like Wine Riot!) But truth be told, sparkling wine's bright fruit and fresh acidity make it a fan-freaking-tastic everyday wine to drink with food. It's incredibly versatile as a zesty vehicle for a fresh salad or a snappy counterpoint to a rich salmon dish. Basically, there are few limits to what sparkling wine can do when paired up with food.
There are plenty of great choices when it comes to bubbly but one of our favorite sparklers for the warmer months is Italy's Prosecco. Exuberant and light-bodied, Prosecco is the name of the grape and also its original hometown and is perfect for the lighter fare of spring and summer. And for the money, nobody can titillate our taste buds like Mionetto. Situated on some of the finest land around, Mionetto has been making killer bubbly since 1887.
Named after the master winemaker, "Sergio" is a crisp, elegant sparkler, with fine-edged acidity that is just right for a wide range of food pairings. And though at $17 this is by no means the cheapest Prosecco on the market, when compared to what you'd be spending on a bottle of Champagne (think $40), the value is undeniable. So, whether it's fresh oysters, grilled white fish, or Thai takeout, pop a bottle of this bubbly and turn any weeknight into Night of the Bubbles.
Drink liberally with some of the smoked shrimp and mussel gazpacho served up by Masa at this weekend's Wine Riot.
