!ines produced in the estate of Rocca Montemassi have much to tell; the landscape, history and customs. The grounds of the estate are in fact dominated by a fortified settlement dating most probably to the tenth century. Owned by Aldobrandeschi first, from the accounts Pannocchieschi then usurped by Capuchin Sticciano, the castle rebelled against Siena in 1328 with the help of Castruccio Castracani, but was conquered by the most powerful militias and Siena after the siege, was immortalized in the famous painting by Simone Martini, who is in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena, portraying Guidoriccio da Fogliano riding.
